The original Lake View High School, which is one of two high schools in the San Angelo I.S.D., was destroyed by fire on May 17, 1998. The new high school is currently programmed as a 4A school
serving 1,200 students in grades 10-12. New facilities will include a 500-seat auditorium and a 1,200-seat competition gymnasium.

The building will be organized around two major groups offering different functions - instructional classrooms and library will be located in a two-story structure to the east with the administration offices, auditorium and music; PE and Athletic facilities will be located in a group to the west. Each group of functions will be organized about its own `mall' illuminated by skylights. Linking these will be the school's primary public space consisting of the cafeteria and commons.
